symfonyでは、ymlを使いまくるため、syckをインストールすると早いらしい。と早速インストールしてみると

sudo pecl install syck

でエラーがでたので、気を取り直して

sudo aptitude install re2c
sudo pecl install syck

これも駄目。
おかしいなあと思いつつ、

sudo aptitude search syck

とすると正解が。
なんと

sudo aptitude install php5-syck

でした。
